As I stand an look at the dates
I think as them from beginning to end
I know that first came the date of birth
And I think of the following date with tears
But what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time
That Jody spent here with us
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth
For it matters not how much you own
The cars...The house...The cash
What matters most is how you lived an loved
and how you spent the dash.

It is hard to put into words just what to say,
but Jody you are loved and with us each day
You were many things to each one of us,
a son, grandson so many things to discuss
Brother, cousin and friend you would be,
to each one of us a blessing from God you see.
You were a nephew who could do all kinds of things,
be welding, equipment repair, and whatever else life brings.
You were far from average in your work and studies,
just ask your family, friends, and buddies.
When you rode your four wheeler you were at ease,
doing tricks, stunts and jumps just as you would please.
Hunting deer with your bow or gun in a tree,
you had the most fun hunting with your brothers you see.
At school in class, field or shop,
you always did your best to rise to the top.
1st place in Ag Mechanics you did take,
and upon the honor roll your name did make.
You played soccer ever since you were little,
passing the ball or scoring right down the middle.
I heard it said that children are the heart and soul,
Jody had a heart of gold.
He always seemed to have a smile upon his face,
a chuckle, a laugh that will never be replaced.
Jody believed in living each day to the fullest,
having fun and loving life isn't that the coolest.
Jody we loved you from the start,
you will always be missed deep in our heart.
We know Jody if you could stand here today,
this is what you might say....
Thank-you Mom & Dad for giving me life, love and care,
thank-you sister and brothers for all that we shared.
For everyone else thank you for being here today,
God needs me now I best be on my way.

We lost our Son,Brother on May 26,2006.He was on his way home from work when someone ran a red light and killed him.We will never forget that day of our life.It even hurts more to know that person only got charged ($340.00) for negelant driving and still has his full live ahead of him.Jody was just 10 days from graduating from Walkersville High School and ready to continue his career
as a Master Welder.This has changed our life our family and the lives of many others.

What does a brother do, when his brother is taken from him ?
Do I head to the field to hunt, as if you are with me
Or do I stay in, and hurt and grieve
For hunting was what you and I did
To pass our time, to be together and to be free
We would hunt whenever the season was in
Or shot our guns and bow and talk about the next season to begin
We would go to Bass Pro once a month
Just to be surrounded by hunting stuff.
We were looking forward to going to Montana
To hunt the Milk River like Jordan, Waddell and Blanton
We talked about all the hunts we would make
And all the trophies we hoped to take
Just the other day we talked about having the fever
How we couldn't wait for September
To be high in our tree
Watching nature as it be
They're many people who never experience what we did
To be brothers and hunters, boy were we glad
We were always the first to want to share
How great the outdoors are and what it meant to be there
What do I do now, since you have been taken from me
Do I go out this fall and climb into my tree
Do I hunt harder then I ever had
Even though it will make me sad
Will you be there with me, helping me out
Giving me the strength to go about
Will you help me up should I fall
Will you answer me when I call
Where will you be this hunting season
Will you be the breeze against my face
Or will you be the leaves that blow in the wind
Or are you pushing the deer just around the bend
Please tell me you will be there
And that you want me to hunt instead of grieve
To enjoy the outdoors and all the memories we had
Because you are not gone but are waiting for me
And if you could talk to me today, perhaps this is what you would say
I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and hunting with you
from my home in the sky.
Life is not measured by the
number of breaths you take.
But by the moments that took
your breath away.

Its been 0ver 5 years,
You would think life would get easier,
It doesn't.
